Create an AO from scratch

Turn a purpose into a useful first result, test assumptions and decide whether to continue.

Choose the recipient and first result

A new AO can serve a commercial, personal or public purpose. Begin with who needs its work and what evidence would demonstrate usefulness. A known model, such as preparing a research report, differs from discovering a still-unproven business opportunity.

Make the first cycle small

  • State a purpose and identify its beneficiary.
  • Choose the first useful result and acceptance criteria.
  • Test assumptions about usefulness or demand.
  • Describe the cycle, decisions and feedback.
  • Configure explicit authority, inputs and tools.
  • Complete one cycle and review its outcome.
  • Decide to continue, change direction or stop.

Separate uncertainty from integration effort

A technically simple prototype may face uncertain demand. A well-understood function may require difficult integrations. Record UNC and IMP separately. Do not authorize payments or broad external action merely to explore an idea.

A finite project is still an organization

A game, report or product release can have identity, obligations and review until its result is accepted. Organizational continuity does not require an infinitely running model. Record unfinished commitments and the completion or handover condition.
